LITTLE HARBOUR - Brenda Joanne (Neale) Kilcup, of Little Harbour, Pictou County, passed away with her family by her side after a short battle with cancer on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
Joanne was born in St. Catharines, Ontario, to the late Fred and Brenda (Goodwill) Neale. She resided in Thorold, Ontario until meeting her husband Bob, moving back to St. Catharines where they lived until moving to New Glasgow with son Stephen and after the birth of their daughter Kristen Jane, building a home and staying in the Little Harbour area. Joanne worked for a while at the Pictou County Day Care where she was able to take her children, then at Maritime Tel and Tel for a year before starting work at the local radio station, CKEC 94.1, retiring after 26 years. During these years, she also volunteered mainly as secretary with the Little Harbour Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and with the Little Harbour Presbyterian Church. Upon work retirement, she also became involved with the Aberdeen Hospital Auxiliary, Aberdeen Hospital Gift Shop and the Thistle Quilt Guild in Westville. Playing Wednesday afternoon 45's with friends and bridge every Friday morning were wonderful times for her. She also enjoyed her many trips back to Ontario for visits with family and friends.
Joanne is survived by her husband Bob; son, Stephen; brother, Fred (Saundra); sisters-in-law, Shirley Langer and Patricia (Baxter) Hicks.
She was predeceased by daughter, Kristen Jane.
